Natural bark edge engraved bespoke swing

This stunning solid Oak swing was a bespoke item made for a family in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. We had built them a beautiful oak garden for their light-well in the past and this was a little add on for the children's play area. The swing was made using a single plank of waney edged oak, left natural with the bark still attached. Normally as the wood weathers the bark will naturally drop off so we secured the bark using oak dowels to keep its unique look for as long as possible.
The swing was then hand engraved in Garamond font with a quote from A.A. Milne. The chunky rope was chosen for its strength and comfort on the little hands that would be gripping it. The rope was eye spliced through the swing by hand to secure the rope in as strong a way as possible. All the rope ends and splices were then wrapped with a whipping to keep them all looking neat and tidy. The oak was finished with a natural nut oil to highlight the grain and keep it looking its best.
